Agriturismo in Lucca
Surrounding area

Bagni di Lucca
Renowned for its waters since the eleventh century, this thermal spa consists of picturesque hamlets dispersed between chestnut trees, cypress trees and platains.

Barga
Barga is one of the most beautiful medieval boroughs of the Garfagnana (see below). It has numerous Renaissance palazzi and offers an exceptional view of the Appuan Alps and the Appennines.

Forte dei Marmi
An ancient port from where once marbles from the Appuan Alps where shipped to all destinations. It was discovered in the nineteenth century by artists and intellectuals. Forte dei Marmi then quickly became an elegant spa town characterised by some very handsome villas.

Garfagnana
The Garfagnana is a mountainous region that separated the Appennines from the Appuan Alps. The primary source of income is the raising of sheep on the mountain plateaus, and terrace agriculture at high altitude. The chestnut tree occupies an important position both in the region’s cuisine and in the fabrication of household utensils. The region is ideal for those in search of unspoilt nature. The mountains, parts of which are now nature reserves, abound with opportunities for some excellent hiking and for observing many species threatened from extinction.

Pietrasanta
A pretty little town at the foot of the Appuan Alps, Pietrasanta owes its wealth to sculptors and marble craftsmen, as well as to its foundries, which provide art galleries the world over with sculptures.

Versilia
Versilia is a region blessed with a mild climate and extends from the coast, including one of Italy’s largest beaches, to the Appuan Alps (from Forte dei Marmi to Viareggio). It owes its charm in part to its views encompassing the sea on one side, and the mountains on the other. It is dotted with many much-visited villages such as Camaiore, Forte dei Marmi, Pietrasanta and Viareggio.

Viareggio
An ancient fishing and ship-building village, the town was transformed by Marie-Louise of Bourbon into a sea-side resort. Today it is the most popular and renowned resort of the Versilia, with a long and beautiful beach of fine sand. It is a place to see and be seen. The many parks and gardens offer some charming promenades amidst the palm trees and laurels. Its carnival, of world renown, and the annual Literary Prize of Viareggio are not to be missed.
